Gia's 7 bighealthy babies, sired by our stud, Jax are heading home this weekend (5.31.25). It's hard to believe that it's already time to say goodbye! We do not have any babies available at this time; it surprises many that all of the babies were spoken for by 6 weeks of age. The reason that occured is because prior to breeding, we have a reserved list. We've begun the reserved list for Rayven and Kozzi's 2026 litter, we plan to breed her when she comes into heat- expected sometime Oct to Dec.

We are a husband /wife team, Ritchey and Melissa, and we are located in Edwardsville, Illinois (Metro St Louis). We have been together for 7 years, married for 2 and have a blended family with 4 late teens/young adults. Our Akita crew is out and about with us and are part of our social activities as well. Gia's favorite past time is going for rides in Momma's Mini Cooper Convertible and Jax loves to visit his fans at the farmer's markets on Saturday mornings. While we are careful with other canine interactions for concern of viruses etc, it is very important to us that they get out and about to socialize and live their best lives.
We fell in love with the Akita breed when Easton "Big E" came into our family. He embodied the most noble of the breed's characteristics, showed us what it meant to be loved by an Akita, and became the most loved family dog.
As a puppy, Easton was diagnosed with Lupus and lived the remainder of his life taking medications to manage it which unfortunately wore out his body before his time, Easton passed away at 9 years old and though he had a full life, he dealt with uncomfortable outbreaks and lesions throughout his lifetime. His pain and suffering along with our love for him and the characteristics of his breed, is where our passion for Akitas and our principles of breeding for the health, temperament, and the overall betterment of the breed was born.
Our bears are raised as family, in our home (and bed :)) and are included in all of our daily activities. We work hard to make sure that they are socialized to other animals, people of all ages, and to new and unfamiliar situations and experiences. We want the baby bears that our 'babies' create to be integrated into their families lives and live to their fullest potential! Play dates at the dog park? Boat Rides? Coffee runs with Momma? Car Pool pickup with Dad? We want adoptive families who are looking for THAT kind of companionship with their new baby! It takes a lot of work to socialize and train this willing breed and we ask that commitment of our new extended family. We are here to help with resources in any way!
Jax was chosen as our stud not only for his size and striking appearance, he was the perfect fit because genetics go A LONG WAY! His incredible disposition and demeanor leave a lasting impression on everyone that he meet.
Gia and Jax's litter are on their way to their forever homes this weekend! It's so hard to believe that it's already time to say goodbye. We do not currently have any puppies available but have begun our reserved list for Rayven and Kozzi's 2026 litter. She is currently in heat so we will be expecting her to come into heat and be bred sometime between October and December. If you'd like to Facetime to meet our crew and to learn more about their litter, we'd love to meet you.
